Lindsay Brack’s Story
Lindsay Brack is an attractive young woman (currently 18) who has used speech generating devices with Minspeak since she was 4 years old. Her first Minspeak device was an AlphaTalker. When she outgrew the power of that device, she made a transition to a DeltaTalker and then a Vantage. Lindsay currently uses a Vantage Plus with the Unity84 Minspeak Application Program.
Lindsay graduated in 2009 from Douglas County High School in Douglas County, Colorado. She enjoys a busy life, including working every Friday night at a local movie theater and participating in Young Life, a Christian youth group. She also enjoys spending time with family, shopping and helping children who use AAC.
Like most other young adults, some of Lindsay’s most favorite things to do are emailing and sending text messages – activities that depending on language and literacy development. You’ll see in the video of Lindsay that she uses a feature in the Vantage Plus – called the Icon Tutor – to look up a Minspeak code for a word! She has learned that Minspeak is more efficient than spelling and she uses Icon Tutor to teach herself new codes!
